I. Iron ore reserves in Niger
Niger has the largest iron ore reserves in the world, including Cenozoic deposits in central Niger, Ader Doutchi, Agadem and Termit. The important iron reserves are especially known.
A large number of iron mines in Niger are mainly concentrated in the following three areas:
(1) river areas (for example, Kollo and Kirtachi);
(2) Ader Douutchi；, located in the western center of the country;
(3) Termit in the southeast of the country
Iron mainly exists in laterite and tremolite strata, such as sediments from Paleogene to Cretaceous in Termit area near Niger River in southeastern Niamey and Adeldoutchi area east and south of Tahoua. It is estimated that Niger River has 1.25 billion tons of iron ore reserves.
