Project introduction:

A German company develops and produces portable devices that can be deployed in small unmanned aerial vehicles (2-3kg load capacity). These devices use the high information potential of polarization method to detect visibility, locate, expose and improve the contrast of potentially dangerous objects, objects and areas, including:

● Mines and other unsafe items and their possible placement locations, including underground;

● Floating mines and other small objects on the water;

● Optical equipment in green area;

● Deadly devices, including drones, small drones and wandering ammunition;

Since the late 1980s, the company has been actively developing experimental polarization systems, whether used alone or as part of the optical instrument complex. These systems reveal the classical methods of obtaining polarization difference images to improve the contrast of the target in turbid environment. In the actual environment, these environments may be thick water layer, fog, dust or smoke.

From the point of view of field application, it is very promising to analyze the polarization of light reflected, scattered and re-emitted by objects, especially for detecting objects in natural background and camouflage. Military, scientific and civil organizations all over the world are actively studying the polarization of infrared and optical bands. The results show that the light emitted and reflected by man-made objects has a relatively high degree of polarization, while the light in natural background is mainly unpolarized. At the same time as the technical improvement of obtaining polarized images, the research on image processing methods to improve the contrast of these images and the reliability of target recognition is carried out.

The company is also committed to developing compact polarization systems in visible and infrared bands, especially:

● Develop new and improved existing polarization systems and measurement algorithms to improve measurement accuracy, measurement speed and anti-noise ability.

Developing polarization sensitive sensors with polarization contrast close to that of discrete element systems, including improving sensor calibration procedures.

● Develop effective methods specially used for processing polarized images, including using artificial intelligence, to maximize the reliability of target detection in images.
