Project introduction:
A well-known research institute in Germany has developed a new technology for measuring electrostatic charges in laminar and turbulent flows. By applying electrostatic field in the test channel and observing the dynamic changes of particles, it realizes the spatial resolution measurement of charge in the flow.
This new technology is based on two-dimensional measurement and uses particle image velocimetry (PIV) technology. An electrostatic field is applied to the test channel between the two measurement sections. Particles with different charges will be deflected by this electric field. By observing the dynamics of individual particles in these measurement areas, this new technology can detect the change of charge in the flow direction. Therefore, it can realize spatially resolved charge measurement, not just charge measurement like the existing methods. In addition, this new technology can measure the electrostatic charge of laminar and turbulent flow of powder or liquid online and non-invasively. This measurement method therefore helps to improve the safety of many transportation processes.
From the explosion-proof point of view, it is very important to accurately understand the electrification of powder or liquid during transportation in industrial factories. In the pneumatic conveying process of powder, a single particle may be charged by static electricity. Due to triboelectric effect, flowing electrostatic charge may cause explosion. However, in the traditional faraday cage measurement, only the total charge of all particles can be measured. The proposed PTB invention can measure the turbulent charge and is suitable for powder and liquid flow in principle.
This technology is not only suitable for powder and liquid, but also can be used for on-line and non-invasive measurement, which is helpful to improve the safety of transportation, especially in explosion protection. It is suitable for many industries, including pharmacy, food, minerals and product development fields involving electrostatic charging.
● Economic significance: This method is suitable for all industries that transport liquids or powders, such as pharmaceutical, food and mineral industries. In addition, for those companies whose products are charged based on flowing static electricity, such as triboelectric separation or powder spraying, it is possible to use this technology in the future.
● Innovation and advantages: spatial resolution and non-invasive measurement of electrostatic charge in flow; Expanding the application range of turbulence; Suitable for powder and liquid.
● Suitable for: integrated automation, motion and drive solutions; Research and development (research and technology).
This technical invention has obtained a German patent, which can provide technical authorization cooperation.
