Project introduction:
Italy has developed compounds that can be used to prevent or treat aging cell-related pathologies and diseases, seeking joint production and research and development, which can be licensed technically.
Aging is a risk factor for many chronic diseases. In fact, with the increase of age, the cells in body tissues enter the stage of replication stagnation. At this stage, these cells, called senescent cells, can no longer perform their normal functions, nor can they experience programmed cell death (apoptosis). Therefore, with the increase of age, aging cells accumulate in tissues and secrete harmful substances, such as cytokines, which are mainly responsible for the inflammatory process, thus leading to age-related diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases or diseases and tumors. With the appearance of aging sca venger which can selectively remove aging cells in "aging" tissues, people's view on age-related diseases has changed from an inevitable phenomenon in human life to a preventable phenomenon.
Some molecules with anti-aging activity, such as heat shock protein 90(HSP90), ha ve been studied and identified in this institute. It is found that the molecules of potential anti-aging drugs ha ve the advantages of selectively promoting programmed death (apoptosis) and inhibiting the replication potential in cell aging models. Compared with known compounds, they also show reduced toxicity. It was patented in 2022.
