Project background

Brazil is one of the largest producers of soybeans and animal protein. It also plays an important role in international trade, but is relatively small in the global fish supply. But given recent heavy investment in aquaculture, as well as the country's geographical location and abundant reservoir resources, fish supplies are expected to improve considerably.

Brazil could produce as much as 3 million tons of fish a year just considering federally controlled reservoirs.
