Tenders have been launched for the main construction contract for the Sharjah International Airport expansion project.
The project, valued at about $400 million (1.5 billion dirhams), includes the construction of terminal B, connection building, arrival terminal, a check-in hall for Air Arabia, airline offices and a transit hotel,
It also includes refurbishment of the existing terminal and expansion of terminal A and part of the infrastructure.
The Sharjah Airport Authority plans to increase the capacity of the airport to 20 million passengers by 2027.
Sharjah International Airport served 13.6 million passengers in 2019, up 12.9 percent from the previous year.
