Project introduction
The project is a cold storage facility in the Center of Asia Hara in the Special Economic Zone of Zamboanga City, Philippines. The project is proposed by the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority, a state-run project under the management of the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority.
The project is located in the Center of Asia Hara, second Industrial Zone, Special Economic Zone, Zamboanga City, covering an area of 5,000 square meters and costing 500 million Philippine pesos.
Project background
The cold storage facility project will help strengthen the zamboanga Peninsula region's vision to transform into an agriculture-fisheries corridor in the southern Philippines.
At present, there are 12 canning enterprises, 24 bottled sardine processing enterprises, 104 dry fish processing and manufacturing enterprises, 10 related industry organizations, 4 tin canning factories in Zamboanga City.
The first series of the Joint Administrative Order 2011 (JAO-01) of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Internal Affairs of the local government has clearly stated the establishment of a protected area to establish a fishing moratorium for commercial sardine-harvesting.
The move will be enforced for three months each year for three years, starting in December 2011. The ban on the sardine fishery was implemented as a regional conservation plan to give the area's fish the opportunity to spawn.
To cope with the consequences of the fishing moratorium on the canning industry, cold storage facilities will help to accommodate additional fish acquired when the fishing season opens, or canning plant technology import machines will store frozen fish for processing during the fishing moratorium to ensure continuous operation of the business at a time.
