Project objective: To increase the quality of water supply and sanitation services and improve the operational performance of Solomon Waters within selected service areas.
Details:
Component 1: Urban water supply.
This component aims to improve access to and quality of safe water services in Honiara and selected provincial capitals.
Component 2: Urban health. The aim of this component is to improve the quality and efficiency of sewage and sanitation services in Honara.
Component 3: water conservation, sanitation and hygiene awareness and education. This component is designed to support a major shift in the water use and behaviour of the population, which is key to the success of the project, with a particular focus on informal settlement areas. It will support the development and implementation of water conservation, sanitation and hygiene awareness and education activities.
Component 4: Organization strengthening and project management. The component will work to improve the financial, technical and operational sustainability of Solomon Water Agency so that by 2027, it is expected to fully recover its annual operating and maintenance costs, asset depreciation costs, and debt service costs paid by user fees and SIG's community service obligations.
